Born into a Belgian family of architects, the pianist, piano pedagogue and composer Emmanuel Durlet’s (1893-1977) works on this new recording date from after 1933 and his esteemed career as a virtuoso pianist. + The programmatic element is constant in his entire oeuvre, preferring to give his pieces evocative titles that often describe their mood or feeling. + His highly distinctive melodic lines and rich and, at times, surprising harmonies make Durlet’s music easily recognizable, and are a common feature of his music. + A trio of top artists performs his music for violin, cello and piano.
