The Beginners are a quintet of Swedish jazz icons, each are members of ensembles that perform on stages worldwide. Leaders of the Stockholm-based group, Erik Söderlind and Andreas Gidlund, wrote the original tunes and made all the arrangements heard on the latest CD, “Two Years After”.The repertoire is mostly original music but includes some American songbook gems as well.You can hear influences from Cannonball Adderley, George Benson, etc… and some of Sweden’s jazz giants such as Lars Gullin and Rune Gustafsson, with everything interwoven by the musician’s personal expression.
