Tòru Takemitsu (1930 -1996) was certainly the most universally recognized composer that Japan has ever had. He has dedicated important works to the guitar, treated both as a soloist or in chamber and orchestral ensembles. He was accepted various times in the prestigious Accademia Chigiana (Siena, Italy), where he attended the course of Oscar Ghiglia.
