Tessarini: Violin Sonatas

Emerging only recently from relative obscurity, the 18th c. Italian Carlo Tessarini’s violin sonatas are firmly rooted in the baroque tradition, yet already pointing towards the late 1700s ‘galante style’ with its emphasis on bel canto melodies and clear, transparent structures. Consisting almost entirely of world premiere recordings, this album of sonatas is played by esteemed violinist and viola d’amore player Valerio Losito with basso continuo accompaniment from harpsichordist Federico del Sordo.
