British flutist Elizabeth Walker has recorded albums for Decca and this, her first release for the Quartz label. The award-winning artist has played on modern flute as well as historic instruments. Here she performs the Telemann Fantasias on a wooden flute.
Solo unaccompanied flute works from the Baroque era are rare though the solo flute itself was undoubtedly heard then as now. Telemann's Fantasias are marked “senza basso” effectively meaning solo. In them, Telemann has created miniature masterpieces of baroque invention, filled with idiomatic writing. - ArkivMusic
