The Polish opera and operetta coloratura soprano star, and, later in life, teacher Halina Mickiewiczówna (1923-2001) became known as the “Nightingale of Warsaw” not long after her professional singing debut in the immediate aftermath of WWII. This Dux release, featuring a selection of recordings realized between 1952-62, during the unrivalled prime of her career, includes works both well-known and lesser-known drawn from the worlds of Italian, French, German, Spanish, and, of course Polish opera and song.
