Schumann: Piano Quintet, Op. 44 & Piano Quartet, Op. 47 / Schubert Ensemble

Schumann composed only one each of these two ideal chamber music forms and coupling them onto one CD makes the ideal album. The Schubert Ensemble is a well-established and well-loved London based group active for the last 30 years. They recorded this for ASV originally in 2006, it is even their second recording of them (the first being on Hyperion). These performances of Schumann’s greatest chamber works were greeted with universal acclaim including Gramophone.
