Franz Schubert worked on multi-part vocal compositions nearly all his life. Settings for vocal ensembles are already among his first extant compositions as a seminary student. And it was with these multi-part songs that he celebrated his first notable successes in Viennese musical life. Genuin’s The Complete Choral Works for Male Voices by Franz Schubert, Vol .1 presents 21 such songs, set to poems by Goethe, Schiller and Seidl, amongst others, sung by distinguished tenors Christoph Prégardien and Andreas Weller with accompaniment by pianist Andreas Frese and the Camerata Musica Limburg.
