Rachmaninoff: All-night Vigil, Op. 37 "Vespers"

His last contribution to Russian Orthodox church music, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil is a worship service that is performed the evening before sacred holidays. The work consists of prayers, readings, and chants, and its scoring for a capella choir joins together romantic musical ideas and traditional monophonic chants of the Orthodox Church.
