PREMIERS ENREGISTREMENTS: 1969

In 1969, headed by Mano Cesaire and with Alain Jean-Marie on the piano, Malavoi cut its debut discs for the Celini label. An immaculately precise violin section, finely sculptured arrangements and incomparable swing, superb tunes enhanced by a crooner, a fusion of tradition and modernity. The ‘Malavoi sound’ came into being which, for over thirty years, was to represent music from Martinique throughout the world.
