This issue pays tribute to Lassus’s abundant gift for word setting and prolific musical invention, with an intelligent programme that follows the course of the church year, punctuated by different settings of the Marian antiphon Regina coeli. Trinity College Choir’s robust sound is excellently balanced, and equally effective in restrained, devotional pieces, such as the sublime Justorum animae, as in the festive Hodie completi sunt.
