The Armel Opera Competition and Festival commenced in 2008 with the mission of discovery - the discovery of new operas and classics that can be given renewal through performance. This album is the result of awards issued to Victoria Marcaryan and Philippe Brocard for Best Female and Best Male Performer respectively of the 2012 Armel Opera Festival. On this disc of the singer’s favorite opera arias, which includes works of Mozart, Bellini and Gounod amongst others, the Georgian soprano and the French baritone are accompanied by conductor Sándor Gyüdi and the Szeged Symphony Orchestra.
