This album is the first volume in a three-album survey of 'One Hundred Years of British Song' featuring tenor James Gilchrist and pianist Nathan Williamson. Volume 1 spotlights composers who made important contributions to the song repertoire, but their success in other genres caused their songs to be overlooked- Gustav Holst, Rebecca Clarke, Ivor Gurney, and Frank Bridge.
