If you ask oboists about their instrument’s golden age, they will in all likelihood refer to the first half of the 18th c., a time of plenty for oboe-centric works, including many written by Vivaldi, Telemann and Bach. Dating from the same period yet representing three very different worlds, these master’s works have common bonds in their virtuosity and associated high technical demands. Alongside Ensemble 18 and harpsichordist Barbara Maria Willi, featured oboist Vilém Veverka invited his teacher and colleague Dominik Wollenweber for the recording of Vivaldi’s two oboe concerto, RV535.
