Uruguayan / Mexican pianist Edison Quintana undertook a di¬fficult task on this production: to put together on one single recording twelve different composers belonging to the most rapid period of change in Mexican music. • The works he chose are all by Mexican composers from 1890-1980; however, this is not just a simple chronological piano collection but an intelligent, sensitively presented selection allowing for the appreciation of how these musicians faced and solved the challenges of the new dodecaphonic world. • Among the dozen composers featured are Manuel Ponce and Silvestre Revueltas.
