The remarkable voices of the Aberdeen Youth Choir, which was at the time of this recording sponsored by Total Oil, were honed to perfection each year by their conductor Christopher Bell, who continues to build his reputation internationally. This album, co-produced with Aberdeen International Youth Festival and BBC Scotland, presents choral music from any ages on the themes of ‘The Four Loves’ as defined by C.S. Lewis. It includes many hymns and anthems on religious and spiritual love, from writers as diverse as Wesley and Tavener, including premiere recordings; and on the more ‘profane’ side, traditional Scots songs in wonderful new arrangements by Ken Johnston.
