Monteverdi: Vespro della beata Vergine

Four centuries after their publication, Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beate Vergine is still just as intriguing. This monument of sacred music explores the most varied forms whilst retaining a remarkable feeling of unity and expressiveness. Under the baton of Marco Mencoboni this score, the fruit of new musicological research, plays with space in a similar way as did Monteverdi, placing the singers (Roberta Mameli, Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli, Luca Dordolo, Gianpaolo Fagotto amongst others) and instrumentalists in different parts of the church. This is a new interpretation to be discovered in excellent surround sound!
