This new Brilliant Classics release brings together works composed for guitar and strings, all receiving their world premiere recordings and all inspired by Norway’s majestic landscape. Guitarist-composer Giorgio Mirto’s “Landscapes” for string orchestra takes its shape from the composer’s memories of visits to Norway, while the concerto Norwegian Memories’ four movements have darkly suggestive titles that tell their own story.To complement these Northern‐inflected works, Mirto has chosen the programmatic Viking Concerto by a native Norwegian, Gisle Krogseth (b.1952).
