Lute Music from Renaissance Italy, featuring three composers of Milanese origin, was originally recorded in 1995/96 by Joachim Held (b. Hamburg, 1963), regarded as one of the foremost lutenists of his generation. He holds two professorships in the Netherlands and in Germany; his discography features upwards of a dozen albums. He has regularly appeared with world famous conductors and orchestras including Il Giardino Armonico, Freiburger Barockorchester, Concentus Musicus and the Berlin Philharmonic.
