Henri Salvador is without doubt the most wonderful crooner-entertainer that France ever produced. These “live” recordings from between 1956 and 1960, made in the legendary Parisian venues Bobino and the Alhambra, belong to that great artistic era defined by Salvador’s collaboration with producer Boris Vian, and this selection alternates titles from jazz, rock ‘n’ roll and calypso. Situated somewhere between a “live” concert and a document incarnate, this album marvellously highlights Henri Salvador’s rapport with his audience: boundless generosity mixed with tenderness and devastating humour.
