This boxed set, featuring harpsichordist Michèle Dévérité, violinist Ryo Terakado and gambist Kaori Uemura, presents the complete surviving works of French composer Antoine Forqueray and his son, Jean-Baptiste. Jean-Baptiste published his own works for viola de gamba in 1747. Although his father wrote three hundred compositions, the thirty-two pieces contained in his son's edition are all that survive today. The set is augmented by a bonus disc of musical tributes from famous (and not so famous) composers of their day.

REVIEW:
The liveliness of the ensemble playing is something to savor. The close and rich recorded sound allows you to revel in the bass heavy transcriptions of Forqueray Junior. This is a deeply satisfying release.
