Intended to underscore the ‘very special relationship between the United States and the Republic of Korea’, the Fifth Symphony contains bright fanfares and a muscular patriotism couched in Copland-esque sweeping colors, performed with spirit by trumpet soloist Jens Lindemann and the orchestra.
