Joseph Haydn's piano trios are among his lesser-known masterpieces. The four recorded here (two with flute, two with violin) were written between 1784 and 1790, during the composer's last years in the service of Prince Esterhzy, in his full artistic maturity. What is striking on listening to them is the richness of the composer's imagination, inviting us to travel a new path each time, in turn brilliant and serious, profound and light.
