Hans Haug: Concertino

The program of this Naxos CD consists of three texturally contrasting works: the little-known Concerto for Guitar and Chamber Orchestra by Hans Haug (1900-1967), that same composer’s brief and charming Quintet for Winds, and a relative staple of the guitar chamber music repertoire, Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Quintet for guitar and string quartet of 1950. The works form an appealing program with the excellent Wind Quintet of Haug at its center, between the two works with guitar. Guitarist Marisa Minder performs with the Basel Philharmonic Quintet.
