FOLLIES IN CONCERT

Despite an initial Broadway run of little more than a year, and the release of an original cast album which had severely edited and misrepresented the score, Stephen Sondheim’s Follies was revered by a small, but enthusiastic segment of theatergoers.Thirteen years after its Broadway run, the New York Philharmonic’s two performances of FOLLIES IN CONCERT finally gave one of Sondheim’s most ravishing scores its complete due, and revealed the previously neglected show as a masterwork of the American musical theater.
