On Flute Voyage, Austrian flutist Birgit Ramsl and pianist Vito Lattarulo journey musically through several centuries of flute repertoire. This round-the-world trip in time and distance begins in the 18th c. with the gallant C.P.E. Bach, extends into romanticism with a work by Carl Reinecke, from where the journey moves on to the 20th c. with stops in France (Jean Françaix, Olivier Messiaen), Russia (Sergei Prokofiev) and, finally, Japan (Toru Takemitsu). Ms. Ramsl, solo flutist at the Volksoper Vienna, also teaches flute at the Franz Schubert Institute in Vienna.
