Emil Gilels (1916–1985) led the way to the West for the great post-war generation of classical performers from the Soviet Union. With a broad repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary pieces, Gilels is even still universally admired for his technique and passionate performances. This 15-disc set focuses on Russian repertoire, with recordings that were made between 1940-1963.
