This new CD contains Elgar’s complete original works for organ, as well as several arrangements of his famous showpieces, the first Pomp & Circumstance March and the iconic ceremonial ‘Nimrod’ from the Enigma Variations among them. The original organ works consist of the grand Organ Sonata and the Vespers Voluntaries, a touching expression of Elgar’s Roman Catholic faith. Played on the Leeds Cathedral’s magnificent Norman and Beard organ by the cathedral’s organist Daniel Justin, whose recordings for Brilliant Classics include a complete set of Duruflé’s music for choir and organ (BC9264).
