What musical languages do those who play Dō – Pathways perceive: recordings by a Chinese artist of music by composers who’ve left their homeland? Shanghai native Bright Sheng and Russian-born Lera Auerbach live in the US. Sofia Gubaidulina has adopted Germany as her home, just as Jewish-Russian composer Alfred Schnittke did, and Estonian composer Arvo Pärt does, in part. All the pieces on this CD emerge from and return to silence, making it possible for us to let the pieces resonate within us, to enter into dialog with them.
