Dr. Coppelius, a toy maker, appears to have a beautiful woman in his house. It is Coppelia, who is seen perched upon his balcony, always reading. Despite villagers’ curiosity, she ignores them all. When Dr. Coppelius leaves for the local tavern, the villagers slip into his home and are met with a house of dolls and magic. This production by The Royal Ballet is staged by Ninette de Valois.
