The string trio genre is not noted for many brilliant works, but for certain special ones. When the Thibaud Trio, Berlin was founded in 1994, its goal was to bring these works out of the shadows of musical life. These four string trios, written during the first third of the last century, reveal the breadth of possibilities of this genre, comprising elegance and tradition (Dohnanyi), impulsivity (Reger), and a piece de resistance in virtuosity and color by Ravel's contemporary Jean Cras.
