''Concerto!'' was a Channel Four TV series that showed participating soloists in rehearsal, in conversation with Dudley Moore and Michael Tilson Thomas and, ultimately, in performance... [F]or me, the highlight of ''Concerto!'' is Richard Stoltzman's rapt, sinewy and ultimately high-kicking account of Copland's Clarinet Concerto. Sid Ramin's sensitive transcription of the Bernstein Clarinet Sonata, a fetching 12-minutes' worth, retains a suggestion of the piano part and recalls middle-period Copland; it too is a very good piece and should earn itself far wider currency... [T]he Gershwin items are fun and Gordon Jenkins's tribute to Benny Goodman is as sincerely touching as it is superbly played.
