Brilliant Brass

The Heavy Metal brigade began its triumphant progress alongside the magicians of tone color and orchestration Hector Berlioz and Richard Strauss. Jazz and light music also contributed to the emancipation of brass players. “Brilliant Brass” inspiringly depicts this via the repertoire of the brass quintet. Two “classics” by Victor Ewald and Malcolm Arnold, and works by Austrian composers Joseph Lanner, Thomas Gansch and Werner Pirchner – all sparklingly witty and breathtakingly virtuosic – complete a not only “Heavy” but “Heavenly Metal” program.
