Classically trained clarinetist Jeff Lambert (Bing Crosby) spent his New Orleans youth riffing on Basin Street, and the day came when he teamed with a trumpet player (Brian Donlevy) and a singer (Mary Martin) to try and make his mark playing Dixieland.
