A titular bishop, well-traveled politician, diplomat, and mediator, Agostino Steffani was also a talented composer who wrote operas for the courts in Munich, Hanover, and Dusseldorf. On this release, Italian soprano Silvia Frigato and the Castor Ensemble utilize a selection of arias from Steffani’s operas to trace the stages of his life, from student, to amateur, to master.
