For decades, at least in European culture, most children have probably known her: Selma Ottilia Lovisa Lagerlöf became world-famous as a writer. She grew up on the Mårbacka estate in the Swedish province of Värmland and was enthralled by the sagas and legends of her homeland even as a child. This spirit also gave rise to her perhaps most famous work, Nils Holgersson. Andreas Tarkmann draws on Swedish folk music in his new version of the children's story. He uses the characteristic sounds and rhythms to create an authentic atmosphere and immerse readers even more deeply in the Swedish culture and landscape. By using traditional instruments such as the nyckelharpa, the sound of cowbells or the characteristic sounds of flutes and violins, Tarkmann gives the story a unique tone.
